Tasmania Roadtrip - Week 4 - Huon Pine

This log of Huon Pine is 8m in diameter and was cut down in 1975 when Lake Gordon was being flooded as part of the Hydroelectric Scheme. The CSIRO estimated its age at that time as 2200 years. This was before the area was declared a World Heritage Site. The labels on the inner rings of the pine match up with the events: the birth of Jesus and the death of Nero, Emperor of Rome.
